Designing and making small scale furniture an antiodote to the slow process of architecture

I enjoy designing and making one-off pieces of furniture constructed to specific requirements or just for fun. Spending much of my time in front of a computer or speaking with people, the act of making can be very rewarding and a satisfying way to think about economy and simplicity. Timber in particular is an extremely versatile and environmentally friendly material that I have always relished working with. The possibility of CNC and laser cutting, opens up new possibilities, and can take away a lot of hard graft.

The process is much the same as constructing buildings, which are typically a mix of off the shelf products and designed bespoke items made by others, with the distinctly more physical and messy process of craft.
