Pleasure Boat Tower
Part of the ongoing redevelopment and regeneration of the canal-side area of Alperton in northwest London, the Pleasure boat tower creates a mix of private and key-worker housing above a new canal-side pub and restaurant.
Positioned at a key intersection between Ealing/Bridgewater Road and the Grand Union Canal, and on a visual axis from the station, the scheme creates new public spaces as a link between canal and street level. A new public square at street level leads down to a canal-side plaza around an expanded boat mooring.
Clad in purple brick, the interlocking forms of the tower create a dynamic and shifting presence for walkers along the canal, while generous balconies and roof terraces overhanging the tow-path lend life and interest to the facade.
